50 Facts

Just a few statistics for you.. 50 Facts

"Not much different than what you see on the internet everyday"

An Australian based game reviewer has recently been sued for defamation because sexually harassing comments were left on her video and she tried to talk to the commenters. One of the boys claimed that his "threats" were meerly jokes and "not much different than what you see on the internet everyday".

Besides the disrespectful way that the boys' parents are handling their children's behavior, the boy's response sheds light on how much today's youth has been desensitized to violent acts like sexual assault.

Unfortunately this is not the only incident where young kids have thought that comments and behavior like this is acceptable, therefore it should become more of a priority to make sure what we are portraying as acceptable in the media is something we want our kids learning.

The Wolf

"Moral: Children, especially attractive, well bred young ladies, should never talk to strangers, for if they should do so, they may well provide dinner for a wolf. I say "wolf," but there are various kinds of wolves. There are also those who are charming, quiet, polite, unassuming, complacent, and sweet, who pursue young women at home and in the streets. And unfortunately, it is these gentle wolves who are the most dangerous ones of all."

In Perrault's version of Little Red Riding Hood, he concludes the story by reminding the audience that the "wolf" in our everyday lives can be the people we least expect.

The Bill Cosby rape allegations have risen again and we are once again faced with the fact that even one of America's beloved TV fathers may not be who we were led to believe he was.

This is not the first time Bill Cosby has been accused of sexual violence, and as the number of accusarions grows the more his chances of escaping punishment declines.

This case brings up two very important issues:

1. Speak up. One of the most important aspects of making sure the attacker receives the correct punishment is by simply voicing your mistreatment. Had the first woman who accused Bill Cosby not spoken up, the countless women after her would have not had the courage to speak up.

2.As women, it is our obligation to be role models and inspirations for each other  and by mustering up the courage to speak about what has been done to you, how ever hard it may seem at first, you are allowing for other women who were just as scared to feel comfortable

The Know More, Be More Campaign

My prerogative for this campaign is to educate victims of abuse about ways they can get help, know facts and understand they are not alone, and lastly, and most importantly, to Be More than just a victim.

It can be so easy to label yourself a victim and give up on yourself. Not only as women do we need to be empowered and motivated to do more, but simply as individuals.

The Know More, Be More campaign aims to help women get to that point where they can find themselves and show their true potential while inspiring other women to do the same.

Let's stop the stereotypes, double standards, and victimizing.

Know more
BE MORE!

The Fault In Our Schools

In June, The Daily Show came out with a comedic segment on the unfortunate way universities around the country are handling assault cases, double standards for men and women, and the everyday lengths women have to go through to keep themselves safe.

Although the comedic side of this video does trivialize the actual difficulties women go through on a day to day bases, it does bring the issue as a whole to a larger scale and make it more relatable to wider audience.
